Whole Black Peppercorn

Black pepper is known to many as the "King of Spices". Black, white, and green peppercorns are all the same fruit of a large tropical shrub. What makes a black peppercorn a black peppercorn is that the peppercorn is harvested when the berry hasn't fully ripened, a green peppercorn, and then the berry is dried. This process produces a distinctly spicy flavor which is slightly hot and biting with a just a hint of sweetness.
