Korean Chile Flakes

Korean Chile Flakes, also call “gochugaru”, look similar to the crushed red pepper flakes. Korean Chile Flakes have a wonderful sweet and smoky taste and come in around a 1,000 - 2,500 on the Scoville heat unit scale.  It’s an all around spice in Korean cuisine. Korean Chile are most widely used to add heat and flavor to Kimchi. Korean Chile is a great substitute for crushed red pepper. It works very well on vegetables or meats to add some Asian flair. They are great on eggs, pasta, pizza, and add another warm layer of flavor to your favorite rub recipe.
