Bay Leaves

Bay leaves, or laurel, are the dried leaves from evergreen trees. Bay leaves have a distinct, strong, and aromatic flavor that perks up tomato sauces, fish, meats, stews,soups, as well as bean and grain dishes. O Bay leaf should be added to a dish early on, as it takes a while for its flavor to fully penetrate the food.

 

Bay leaves work well in combination with allspice, garlic, marjoram, oregano, parsley and thyme.
